Smart Factory for intelligent Manufacturing- Part 6

Factory automation is the main development for Industry 4.0. A key element is to build an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and link factory production equipment to the network so the system can obtain the conditions data of machines in real-time. A smart factory for intelligent manufacturing means entirely self-reliant, fully self-contained, utilizes automated production procedures and supports inter-machine communication. PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology can transmit power and data to equipment simultaneously in Ethernet, so it will be one of the best choices for machines to connect to the network and connect with the operating network in series.

This article will wrap up the series of a smart factory with the last mile- smart connectivity.

Smart factories include production automation and smart manufacturing. Moreover, they integrate automated equipment and production lines that transmit production data to the central control room through a high-speed network for company strategy and decision-making rapidly. Besides, industrial-grade computers play an important role, in how to collect and process visual data is another vital role in optimizing production capacity and improving market competitiveness through core computing and data analysis.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology that passes electric power over twisted-pair Ethernet cable to powered devices (PD), such as wireless access points, IP cameras, and VoIP phones in addition to the data that the cable usually carries. It enables one RJ45 cable to provide both data connection and electric power to PDs instead of having a separate cable for each. With PoE technology, users can easily connect various PoE PD-supported IP cameras to the control system through the standard CAT-5/CAT-6 cable (up to 100 meters) to transfer both electrical power and data at the same time. In this application, users can lower the difficulty of routing to avoid the risk of power adapter failure and easily build the system.

Netiotek’s smart factory solution is designed as an easy-to-implement architecture that can support the smooth flow of data and secure the collection and analysis of data in a factory.
