Direct IP Connection for Process Sensors

Temperature gauges, pressure gauges, flow meters, and other process sensors have long been connected to DCS/PLC input modules only via analog signals or HART protocol. Through 10BASE-T1L, sensors can directly become IP nodes on the network, transmitting not just single values but complete information packets containing device diagnostics, historical trends, and calibration status.

Ethernet-APL Applications in Hazardous Areas

In petrochemical, chemical, and other process industries, large numbers of sensors are installed in Zone 0/1/2 explosive hazardous areas. Ethernet-APL (Advanced Physical Layer) is an extension specification based on 10BASE-T1L, designed for Intrinsic Safety requirements by limiting line power to 500–540 mW, enabling industrial Ethernet to legally enter these areas and replace existing PROFIBUS PA or Foundation Fieldbus solutions.

Remote I/O and Actuator Control

Through PoDL Class 14’s 20 W power delivery capability, remote electric valves, motor drives, and other medium-power actuators can also receive control commands and obtain working power via SPE cable, greatly simplifying the electrical design of field control panels.
